Amalgama de Castellón is an association born from the desire of developing a musical culture of quality to be represented and performed on stage. It aims at promoting musicians mainly issued from the community of Valencia.
Working towards that goal, the association has already organized various activities and productions for the past few years. It previously produced an Opera based on Puchini’s work that premiered in the Alcazar de Nules theater (Castellón), played along with the Symphonic Orchestra of Castellón and also did a few shows in Zarzuelas, Viveros and Valencia etc. Amalgama was also implied in various projects on an international scale and organized various concerts by request of the city council of Castellón

Lately it has been working for the International Organization of Sacred Music of the VIIth century that performs in the monastery De los Carmelitas Descalzos located in Benicàssim.

Amalgama’s enthusiastic participation to the FIB is significant of its will to approach pop music, to merge with it by accompanying the contemporary band with its symphonies, in order to lead to some unimaginable possibilities. Especially for that event, Amalgama has gathered a bunch of musicians from Valencia that will perfectly fit the challenge.

Synfonietta, is a post-graduate orchestra from the National Academy of Music and Dance of Belfort, (ENMD) it allows the students who are part of it to discover the symphonic repertoire. Lately, for example, the orchestra performed pieces from Haynd, Beethoven, Mozart and Saint-Saëns…

Many projects involving choruses are also part of the orchestra’s curriculum. To name a few let’s talk about Beethoven’s “Fantasy”, Emil Cossetto’s “Rapsodia del Cante Jondo” and also “Orphée”, named after the chorus from ENMD, piece that was created for its 30th anniversary.

The orchestra is under the direction of the school’s dean, Jean-Jacques Griesser. It is a musical structure that is opened to every amateur who applies and who gathers the skills required for admission.

After having successfully worked on a project with An Pierlé, Synfonietta performed on the 1st of July 2005 with Emilie Simon and the Drums-Keyboards of Lyon at the latest edition of the Eurockéennes de Belfort. This year, Synfonietta will be joined by a 4-voices chorus to accompany the French rock band Dyonisos.

The Mons Orchestra is a spin-off of Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles, the famous musical ensemble born in 1962 from Pierre-Bartholomée and now orchestrated by Jean-Paul Dessy, artistic director.

It won’t be the first time that the Botanique opens its doors to the orchestra. As a matter of facts, the Mons Orchestra has already worked many times with the Belgian festival and its performances always get more anticipated, by the public as well as by the professionals, because the string ensemble doesn’t offer your typical kind of show: each time it performs along with a contemporary pop/rock artist, and without distorting its music, it adds a universal and classical feel to it. Amongst the bands or artists that it previously played with are Archive, Keren Ann, Perry Blake, Louis Chedid, The Divine Comedy and a lot more. This year, for Un-Pop Classik, it will accompany Venus, the Belgian rock sensation.

According to Paul-Henri Wauters, the festival’s artistic director, “it’s not about replacing the synthesizers by strings, but bringing a vibrating and noble material that will amplify the singer and band’s emotions.”

For the Danish orchestra Ensemble MidtVest, the goal is clearly set: taking classical music to another level updating its performances to modern times, which always get more innovative, and therefore turning classical music into a music influenced as much from the past as it is from the future.

Born in 2002 and formed by 10 artists, the variety of instruments used by the orchestra is as wide as their repertoire. Musically we are talking about a string quartet (two violins, a viola and a cello), a wind quintet (a flute, an oboe, a clarinet, a horn and a bassoon) and a piano. Always following this goal of promoting a heterogeneous musical repertoire, the orchestra often plays with well-known soloists to perform around Denmark’s best stages and occasionally worldwide.

Un-Pop Classik will unite them to Teitur, the contemporary folk singer, to prove the public that traditions and pop culture can get on well to join the crowds.

Connu comme le plus beau des festivals en plein air de France, et un des plus influents en Europe, Les Eurockéennes de Belfort consolident leur réputation à chaque édition. Depuis 18 ans, ce festival prend le pouls de la musique actuelle et fouine sans idées préconcues dans l’offre musicale la plus récente comme parmi les artistes qui comptent dans l’histoire de la musique populaire, tout genre musical confondu : rock, heavy metal, hip hop, electro, reggae, musiques latines et bien sûr… pop.
C’est le premier week-end de juillet que tout se passe.

La presqu’île du Malsaucy, dans la campagne proche de Belfort, devient LE lieu où tout fan de musique se doit d’être. Sont déjà passés par les scènes des Eurockéennes des artistes et groupes comme The Chemical Brothers, Cake, IAM, Cali, Garbage, Queens of the Stone Age, Bloc Party, Tom Zé, Franz Ferdinand, Sonic Youth, Rage Against The Machine, The Cure, Pixies, Slipknot, Ben Harper, PJ Harvey, David Bowie, Morrissey, Radiohead ou Kraftwerk.

Stars rassembleuses, artistes défricheurs ou créations inédites : grâce à une sélection multi-genres et cinq espaces scéniques, ce festival de trois jours mobilise quelque 90000 personnes et est bien décidé à ne pas se reposer sur ses lauriers.

A l’occasion de Unpop classik, et avec le soutien du Conseil régional, les Eurockéennes accompagneront chacun des 4 groupes avec quelques-uns des meilleurs élèves et professeurs de musique de Franche-Comté. C’est toute la région (Jura, Doubs, Haute-Saône et Territoire de Belfort) qui accueillera et préparera l’un des événements de cette édition 2006.

Les Eurockéennes, c’est une mosaïque d’espaces bouillonnants, des sensations à partager, des instants forts à vivre du 30 juin au 2 juillet.

Organisé par ROSA (Dansk Rock Samrâd Saltholmsgade), organisation pour le développement du Rock au Danemark, le festival Spot se dédie à promouvoir et étendre le genre musical en Europe du Nord en cherchant et découvrant les talents de demain. Le festival Annuel d’Aarhus est désormais considéré, tant par les amateurs que par les professionnels de l’industrie, comme la référence danoise et le festival de musiques le plus important du pays.

L’objectif de cette mobilisation est de découvrir et présenter des groupes avec de la personnalité et ce petit quelque chose de spécial qui en fera des stars et participera à l’élaboration d’un son nouveau. Ainsi on donne aux débutants l’opportunité de se lancer et de commencer carrière alors que les groupes ayant déjà gagné leur succès sont de retour pour assurer l’ambiance. Avec ses racines implantées dans le rock, le festival a grandi et ouvre maintenant ses scènes à tous les genres musicaux pour que tous soient satisfaits : pop, jazz, R&B, hip hop, folk, etc. Le plus important est de vivre la musique en direct et les neuf scènes permettent à plus ou moins 90 groupes de jouer le tout pour le tout durant les deux jours que dure le festival.

Les artistes ne sont pas la seule attraction du Spot. Avec un désir toujours grandissant de développer l’industrie de la musique au Danemark, des classes, réunions, discours et travaux de groupes, à la portée de tous, sont organisés par des professionnels.

Préparant son propre futur, le Spot est un lieu de rencontre entre les artistes et le publique, entre les professionnels de l’industrie et les médias, et le tout par amour pour la musique.

Le Spot 12 commencera début juin.

Le festival le plus connu de Belgique n’est pas un festival comme les autres. Cela fait maintenant plus de douze ans que le Botanique, célèbre palais des spectacles, ouvre ses portes à une série de groupe de très bonne renommée pour célébrer la Musique. Les mots-clés du festival sont création, découverte et éclectisme.

Plus de quarante concerts sont répartis en huit jours et l’an dernier, les 120 artistes qui sont venus ont rassemblé plus de 30 000 spectateurs. L’objectif principal du festival est de lancer les artistes de demain et pour cela, les groupes jouent dans des salles relativement petites pour assurer une ambiance intime et une relation de proximité entre les artistes et leur publique.

La dernière nuit du festival est une nuit à thème : chaque année un thème est choisi et sont regroupés les artistes qui s’y conforment, le publique a alors l’occasion de passer de salle en salle pour l’achat d’un seul et unique billet. Outres les limites de la musique, le festival touche aussi d’autres disciplines comme la danse, la photographie ou les graffitis, le tout mené dynamiquement par la musique des meilleurs DJ’s.

À l’affiche des éditions précédentes on trouve des sensations internationales comme Björk, Cake et Archive, mais aussi une variété d’artistes francophones comme Venus, De Palmas, Vive La Fête, Brigitte Fontaine, Jane Birkin, Yann Tiersen etc.

Les Nuits Botaniques sont loin d’être des nuits traditionnelles, et alors qu’elles retentiront une fois de plus dans la capitale belge rassemblant des foules provenant de toute l’Europe, elle mettra encore une fois ses spectateurs et ses artistes sur le devant de la scène musicale contemporaine.

Chaque été depuis maintenant onze ans, la Costa Azahar se transforme en l’endroit le plus animé et apprécié de toute l’Espagne. Les vacanciers, les touristes tout comme les artistes et les locaux, tous se réunissent a Benicàssim pour profiter de ses plages, de ses fêtes mais surtout, de la célébration de musique, d’art et de création qu’est le FIB Heineken (Festival International de Benicàssim).

Le FIB Heineken, ce sont quatre jour de fin juin ou se confrontent les meilleurs groupes actuels et les nouveaux bien décidés à lancer leur carrière et s’approprier un publique. C’est une expérience tant magique qu’elle est concrète qui laisse a chaque spectateur un souvenir exceptionnel et une toute nouvelle richesse culturelle. La notoriété des groupes qui ont brûlé les planches du FIB les années précédentes a largement contribué à celle du festival. Comme l’Art n’est pas seulement une question de musique, nous voulons nous assurer que tout le monde trouve chaussure a son pied. Nous organisons aussi des concours de courts-métrages, de danse, de théâtre ou encore sculpture ce qui fait du FIB une occasion pour tous de créer et de s’exprimer : les deux mots-clés du festival. Les curieux et amateurs, eux, pourront assister a des cours d’expansion culturelle pour se sensibiliser aux différentes formes d’Art.

Venir au FIB ce n’est pas seulement être passif en regardant et en écoutant son groupe préféré, c’est surtout être actif en participant à une ambiance créative qui motivera les nouvelles générations, les plus anciennes ou bien toi-même, à faire un pas en avant et à aider à construire la culture et la sensibilité de demain. For the last eleven years, the Costa Azahar has been turned into the most appreciated and animated place of Spain. The holiday-goers, the tourists along with the artists and the locals, all gather in Benicàssim for its beaches, its parties but most of all for the annual celebration of music, art and creativity that is the FIB Heineken (Festival Internacional de Benicàssim).

The FIB Heineken: four days by the end of July where the newest bands, decided to gain fame and experience, are confronted to the best talents from today’s music scene. It’s an experience as magic as it is concrete that leaves the spectator with a marvelous souvenir and a new particular cultural wealth. The notoriety of the bands that played for the past years at the FIB contributes to the fame of the festival. Music fans were already given the chance to see bands and artists like: The Cure, P.J. Harvey, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Los Planetas, Pulp, Björk, Blur, Suede, Radiohead, Devendra Banhart, Muse, Placebo, Fatboy Slim, Cycle as well as Moby, Goldfrap and much more. As you would have guessed, you are given you the opportunity to live, dance and sweat to the live music of the best artists of the contemporary pop/rock scene, and to remember the classics yet discovering tomorrow’s hits.

As art is not only music, we want to make sure that every single one of you will find at the FIB what you are looking for. We also organize short-movie contests, dance, theater and sculpture contests so that the FIB becomes for everyone the opportunity to create and express themselves: the two keywords of the festival. The curious and the amateurs may attend to Cultural Expansion classes in order to being sensitized to the various forms of arts.

Coming to the FIB is not only about being passive listening and looking at your favorite band, it’s about being active and participating to that special, creative and inspiring, mood that will motivate the new bands, the older ones and hopefully even you, to take a step forward and to build up to a new culture and sensibility that will lead us to the tomorrow. We do have one request though, it’s that you have fun.

Known for being the most famous festival in France, and surely one of the most influential in the whole Europe, Les Eurockéennes de Belfort have been confirming its reputation every time more for the past 18 years. With a diverse selection of bands and four scenes where already played the most famous artists, the French festival managed to mobilize up to 95 000 people, and is decided to keep going further.

The normally quiet peninsula of Malsaucy, close to Belfort, is turned each year by the beginning of July into THE place where every music fan has to be. This major festival, which started as a little local pop party, now touches a lot of diverse music styles and subcultures such as rock, heavy metal, hip hop, electro, reggae, Latin music, world music and of course… pop. Veterans and beginners coming from all parts of the world gather to represent every genre. The region of Franche-Comté, within the support of Regional Council, will welcome bands and orchestras for this Unpopclassik project to built up this next edition of Les Eurockéennes de Belfort festival.
